A structured approach to couples therapy that focuses on the emotional bonds between partners. The core idea is that strong emotional connections are vital for a healthy relationship.
Is grounded in attachment theory, which posits that individuals seek secure emotional bonds. The therapy helps partners recognize and respond to each other’s emotional needs.
Identifies negative interaction cycles that contribute to distress. These cycles often involve withdrawal or criticism, leading to further disconnection.
Encourages partners to express their emotions and vulnerabilities. This helps deepen understanding and empathy between them.
For children and adolescents, narrative therapy is a powerful tool to help them make sense of their experiences, reframe negative beliefs, and gain control over their lives.
